Greetings from Springtime in London. This is the first in a series of three quick galleries to scroll through, featuring my favourite mood-enhancing colours for instant energy. I once owned the perfect canary yellow silk pencil skirt from Reiss. People would stop me in the street to compliment me or ask where it was from. Tragically, I accidentally dropped a black biro in my lap, leaving a long irremovable line.

Skirt of Joy was condemned to the textiles recycling bag. But the point is, the skirt instantly made me feel full of sunshine – a feeling that must have shown on my face. This makes me recall one of my favourite Roald Dahl quotes from “The Twits”:

“if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”

This sunshine-thoughts-theory also applies to your home. If you fill it with items that make you smile and immediately improve your mood, it will have a daily impact on your mindset. Here’s the gallery, starting with my Rupert Sanderson patent platforms that I picked up in their sample sale a few years ago. I was meeting my husband for the pizza in Marylebone after work one evening, and did a quick fly-by first, hoping to pick up a bargain. “I’ve just bought a pair of shoes that aren’t very practical, but they make me feel incredible.”

I’d love to know your favourite mood-enhancing colours. x
